What does a click cost in your trade?

Pick a trade and a city. Out comes what Google publishes to appear at the top, with the Spanish price and the English price next to each other. Twenty trades, ten cities and 303 combinations with data, pulled from the Planner on 21 September 2026.

Searching in Spanish

Searching in English

The Spanish click costs a third of the English one

This is what we were after when we built the tool, and it came out sharper than I expected. We could compare 105 cases where data existed in both languages for the same trade and the same city. In 91 of those 105 the Spanish bid landed below the English one, and the median went to forty per cent.

One of the clean examples. House cleaning in Los Angeles: $1.25 to $4.28 searching in Spanish, $4.21 to $13.93 searching in English. Same trade, same city, same day. The only difference is how many people are bidding for that click.

And there are two trades where it runs the other way. In aesthetics and med spas the Spanish bid came out at 1.6 times the English one across all ten cities, without a single exception. In personal injury law the high end in Spanish touches the thousand-dollar ceiling in Los Angeles. I am putting them here because if the pattern were even across all twenty trades I would distrust the data myself.

High bid by trade, across the ten cities

The median of the high end, which is the published ceiling to show at the top. The Spanish column is left blank where fewer than four cities came back with data, because a median from two cities means nothing.

Where Spanish has no auction at all

Of the 400 combinations we asked for, 303 came back with a bid. Almost everything missing is Spanish. In English there is data for twenty trades out of twenty in eight of the ten cities. In Spanish it drops to fourteen in Los Angeles, eight in Phoenix and five in San Francisco.

Google publishing no bid means there are so few advertisers that no auction exists to draw a range from. That says nothing about whether customers are searching. It says nobody is writing for them, which is exactly what came out of our autocomplete sweep.

What this number is not

It is not what you will pay. It is the published range to show at the top, and what you actually pay depends on the quality score of the ad and of the page it leads to. An advertiser with a good score pays below the low end. One with a poor score may not show up even paying the high end.

It is also not a comparison between languages in the abstract. It is the comparison between the two specific queries we chose to measure for each trade, and they are written under each figure so you can see them. In aesthetics we measured "botox" against "med spa near me", which are not the same thing, and part of that trade's gap comes from there.

And it carries a date. The Planner moves the ranges with the season and with advertisers coming and going, so in six months this is good for the order of magnitude and not for budgeting.

What to do with the number

Multiply it by the clicks you need for one sale. If you close one in twenty enquiries and one in ten clicks leaves an enquiry, a sale costs you two hundred clicks. With that in hand you know whether the channel works for you before spending a dollar, and that arithmetic is what the budget calculator does.

If the number for your trade looks frightening, check the Spanish column before writing off advertising. And if your city has no Spanish auction at all, the work there is positioning before paid.
